Professor Joubin Discusses Cinematic Representations of East Asian American Women

In honor of the Women’s History Month, Professor Alexa Alice Joubin delivered a keynote lecture on Cinematic Representations of East Asian American Women at the Tucker-Boatwright Festival in Richmond. Using the three interlocking concepts of yellow peril, yellow fever, and techno-Orientalism, Joubin revealed the manifestation of racist misogyny. She also suggested ways to identify tacit forms of misogynistic racism as well as strategies for inclusion. View the complete lecture on YouTube.
