Sudhir Shetty

Sudhir Shetty is also a Non-Resident Fellow at the Center for Global Development in Washington D.C. His professional interests include East Asian and African development, development finance, and gender equality. He spent most of his professional career at the World Bank, retiring in 2019 as its Chief Economist for East Asia and the Pacific. While at the World Bank, he held a number of other positions in its Africa and East Asia and Pacific regions, including as Director of the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management department in both regions. He was also Co-Director for the World Bank’s 2012 World Development Report on Gender Equality and Development.
