Simon Schropp is Managing Economist at Sidley Austin, a leading law firm in the field of international trade and investment law, where he oversees the work of a team of economists, as well as a network of outside consultants and subject-matter experts.  Mr. Schropp applies economic principles and methods to specific treaty provisions or policy contexts, develops evidence-based solutions, and supports clients in formulating and implementing their optimal policy, legal strategy, or negotiation positions.  He has supported Sidley’s clients in a variety of fora, including before WTO panels and the Appellate Body, arbitral tribunals, and domestic regulatory agencies and courts.  His work has allowed him to gather extensive experience in an array of disciplines and business sectors. 

Mr. Schropp holds a Ph.D. in international economics from the Graduate Institute, Geneva, a Ph.D. in economics from St. Gallen University, and a master’s in international affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
