The Elliott School’s Institute for European Russian and Eurasian Studies (IERES) has published the December 2023 issue of its Russia Program Journal. Responding to the challenges of studying Russia after the February 24 invasion of Ukraine, The Russia Program at IERES has created a novel research ecosystem. That ecosystem renews the methodological toolkit, creates new knowledge commons, focuses on key research questions, and reengages with Russians on a platform designed to spread knowledge to a broader audience.

The Russia Journal Program is an important part of that effort. The December issue examines: Propaganda and Culture in Today’s Russia. Articles include:

  • (Mis)Translating Deceit: A New Perspective on Disinformation
  • Spinning Prigozhin: How Russian Television Managed the Wagner Mutiny
  • Mutiny Orientation – North: Geidar Dzhemal’s Metaphysics of Politics
  • The “Special Path” of Russian State Civilization: The Genealogy of Vladimir Putin’s Geopolitical Metaphor
