Amanda Van Dort is a strategic policy expert and senior executive with nearly 15 years of experience advancing democracy, gender equity, and human rights through leadership roles across the U.S. Department of State, Department of Defense, and international organizations. Her work focuses on strengthening adherence to international human rights and humanitarian law, inclusive governance, and the empowerment of women and girls globally.
She most recently served as the Chief of Staff and Division Chief for the Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues in the U.S. Department of State, where she led strategy and oversight of public diplomacy and strategic planning. Her prior roles include coordinating U.S. atrocity prevention policy, U.S. humanitarian funding to UNFPA for sexual and reproductive health, and the Leahy Law and Protection of Civilians military doctrine as a Presidential Management Fellow. She is an expert on Women, Peace, and Security and gender-sensitive conflict prevention and stabilization.
Amanda served as the Country Director for Emerge Global, a non-profit based in Sri Lanka that supports teenage survivors of sexual assault and abuse; and was a Harold W. Rosenthal Fellow for the International Organization for Migration in Geneva. She received a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Michigan; and currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty Member for George Washington University's Global Gender Policy Program.
