Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Master’s degree program in International Policy and Practice (MIPP), a one-year degree program for mid-career professionals, will launch an online version of the accelerated Master’s program in Fall  2018. Applications are currently being accepted for the inaugural class of MIPP Online students.

Like the existing on-campus program, MIPP Online is designed for both civilian and military professionals seeking to advance their careers or transition to a new one. The program covers major global policy fields to prepare students for strategic leadership roles in the international policy community.

Candidates can complete their Master’s degree within one year of full-time study or 16-24 months of part-time study. For eligible military veterans, GW’s participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program will cover the full cost of tuition for the MIPP Online as well as many other Master’s degree programs at GW. For eligible military veterans, GW offers significant tuition support through its participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program and GW Valor Office.

Program Director Dr. Matthew Levinger says, “the mid-career practitioners who enroll in MIPP are people with a passion to change the world. One of the many benefits of MIPP Online is that the program enables us to deliver the same project-based, interactive learning as our on-campus program in a more flexible format designed for a global market.”

MIPP Online will offer an intensive, individualized education in small classes, most of which will be capped at no more than 15 students. All members of the incoming class will get to know each other in the context of three required core courses on strategy, leadership, and economic policy. Six elective courses will allow students to tailor their education to their own academic interests and professional goals.

MIPP online features a team-based approach to instruction including guest lectures by leading Elliott School faculty members and external experts. The classes meet in weekly synchronous sessions using a videoconferencing platform, and students also learn from each other through  discussion forums and group projects.

The program has been designed with the highest quality standards. Every course must pass Quality Matters Assessment by a group of independent course designers; only after a course has passed Quality Matters Assessment successfully will it be added to the curriculum. Faculty teaching courses for MIPP Online will receive specialized training so that they can create an online learning experience of the highest quality. The program’s students and alumni have access to the full suite of Elliott School student services including academic advising and career services.
