Eric Grynaviski's research interests include international security and U.S. foreign policy. His first book, Constructive Illusions, won the Jervis-Schroeder Award from the American Political Science Association, and his second book, America's Middlemen, won the award for Best Book on Diplomacy from the International Studies Association and the Best Book on Foreign Policy from the American Political Science Association. His most recent book, The Price of Empire, focuses on a economic theory of early American empire in the Pacific, concentrating on the early and middle nineteenth century. His work has been published in International Organization, the European Journal of International Relations, Security Studies, International Theory, and other outlets.
