The Global Public Health concentration offers a multidisciplinary view of health issues worldwide, focusing on population-specific health problems, disparities in healthcare access, needs during humanitarian emergencies, and global threats like pandemics. It examines how political, economic, and cultural contexts influence health, ethical issues in healthcare, and the effectiveness of global and national health initiatives and policies. 
 

Learning Objectives

Students gain the ability to:

  • Discuss core principles, concepts, goals, and indicators of global health. 
  • Analyze political, social, and economic determinants of health and efforts to address disparities. 
  • Articulate the roles of various actors in global health governance, disease management, and health systems strengthening. 
  • Engage thoughtfully in ethical debates about global health and propose improvements to relevant policies and programs.
