WASHINGTON - The President of Namibia, Hage Geingob, recently visited the Elliott School for the Constituency for Africa (CFA) US-Africa Policy Forum. The forum’s purpose was to agree upon a set of policy statements regarding US-African relations to present to the next administration.  The forum was co-chaired by the President and former Ambassador to the United Nations, Andrew Young. Dean of the Elliott School and former Ambassador to the African Union, Reuben Brigety, moderated the roundtable discussion.

US-based CFA is a US organization committed to educating and mobilizing the US based African Diaspora on policies that directly impact Africa. Topics debated included nutrition security on the continent, how to empower Africa’s young leaders, the transformational capacity of Africa, and trade and investment between African and the United States.

Another notable participant in the forum included Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of African Affairs at the US State Department. Greenfield closed the meeting discussion on healthcare infrastructure in Africa, highlighting the forum’s emphasis on active participation in Healthcare Roundtables as an effective way to bring together an entrepreneurial vision for commercial activities and partnerships to Africa, and most importantly in partnership with Africans.
