Selected applicants will be notified via email. Current graduate students and early career professionals, are encouraged to apply. EVENT DESCRIPTIONThis year’s conference will explore the rapidly shifting international landscape—from the global AI race and regional conflicts to climate pressures and rising polarization—and the implications for the next generation of foreign policy professionals. These shifts present two challenges for young professionals: developing policies that can ensure global order in unstable and polarized times, and communicating effectively to build the case for their ideas. How can the next generation of researchers and policy experts break through the noise to reach decision makers and help create better outcomes for a fractured world?  The morning session will feature panels with experts discussing foreign policy in an age of partisan polarization, as well as emerging questions in AI governance and regulation. In the afternoon session, participants will join breakout sessions for hands-on training with Carnegie’s Communications team on reframing long-form research into op-eds and adapting content for new media platforms like Substack that are increasingly important for communicating policy. The day will conclude with keynote remarks – past speakers include Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor to President Biden, and Abby Finkenauer, former United States Special Envoy for Global Youth Issues at the Department of State. LUNCH & REFRESHMENTS PROVIDED.REMINDER, this is not a GW Event but an invitation to attend.
