Introduction to the Canadian Advanced Policy Analyst Program (APAP)
APSIA Graduate Students are invited to learn about the Government of Canada’s Advanced Policy Analyst Program (APAP), a challenging three year professional and leadership development program designed to develop economic and public policy analysts in the Government of Canada. It offers recent master’s level graduates an unparalleled opportunity in the federal public service. Participants complete four six-month placements across the three central agencies—the Privy Council Office, the Department of Finance, and the Treasury Board Secretariat—and one other department.
Applicants to APAP must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
Eligible applicants are Master’s-level graduates who meet the following course requirements (at the undergraduate or graduate level):
• At least one half-year course in microeconomics AND at least one half-year course in macroeconomics (or an equivalent full-year course with both microeconomics and macroeconomics);
• At least one half-year course in microeconomics AND at least one half-year course in macroeconomics (or an equivalent full-year course with both microeconomics and macroeconomics);
• At least two additional half-year OR one full-year course in economics; and
• At least one additional half-year course in statistics or quantitative analysis or research methods.
