International Policy and Practice Program of Study

To earn your Master of International Policy and Practice you must successfully complete our 27 credit program which includes 9 credits in core courses and 18 credits of electives which should constitute a coherent specialization, addressing one or two overarching functional or regional areas of study.

Core Courses

Students will take three core courses (9 credits):

  • IAFF 6212 Strategy and Leadership
  • IAFF 6213 Leadership Capstone
  • A course in Economics.

Options for the Economics courses are below:

The MIPP requirement in economics may be met by taking and passing one of the following:

ECON 6250 Survey of Economic Development

ECON 6283 Survey of International Trade Theory and Policy

ECON 6284 Survey of International Macroeconomics and Finance Theory and Policy


Self Designed Specialization

The self-designed specialization should address one or two overarching functional or regional areas of study. Courses are selected in consultation with an advisor and the Program Director and are tailored to meet the individual student’s intellectual and professional objectives.

These 18 credits may include up to three credits of one-credit skills-based workshops. Courses are grouped to assist students in finding related courses in particular areas. The list of courses below is intended to be suggestive but not exhaustive.
