Professor Wolchik received her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. At GW, she teaches courses on the comparative governments and politics of Central and Eastern Europe and the international relations of the region. She is currently doing research on the role of women in the transition to post-communist rule in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as on ethnic issues in post-communist societies, and the development of party systems and other aspects of politics in the Czech and Slovak Republics.
