MIPP Strategic Leadership Series: Iran’s Evolving Political Situation in the Era of Trump

MIPP Student, Shima Bozorgi, organizes and moderates MIPPs latest Strategic Leadership Series Event

February 23, 2018

On February 12th, MIPP Student Shima Bozorgi moderated a speaker panel featuring Alireza Nader (RAND Corporation) and Behnam Ben Taleblu (Foundation for Defense of Democracies). Both speakers are Elliott School alumni. Shima asked a wide array of questions concerning the recent protests in Iran and how that will impact President Donald Trump’s policy towards the Islamic Republic. In the words of MIPP Program Director Dr. Matthew Levinger, “This discussion offered fascinating insights into Iranian domestic politics at this promising but perilous political moment, and Shima did a superb job of eliciting the panelists’ views on the potential trajectory of the protests and their international significance.”  Dr. Levinger hopes to see other graduate students organize panels in the future.

The next MIPP Strategic Leadership Series event will be co-hosted with the GW Center for International Business Education and Research and ESIA Ambassadors Forum. It will feature Dr. Wolfgang Waldner, the Austrian Ambassador to the United States and focus on the upcoming Austrian EU Presidency. It will be hosted on Tuesday, March 20th from 5-7 pm in the Elliott School City View Room.
