ITIP Internship Award
ITIP alumni and friends have made possible the ITIP Internship Award, a scholarship program for current ITIP students pursuing unpaid internships. The award helps defray the cost of living in Washington, D.C. and enables them to develop professionally in a way that maximizes their potential.
Awards for unpaid internships do more than ease the burden of paying for a semester of living in Washington, D.C. They give students the peace of mind to conduct a full search of available opportunities, allowing them to work in places like the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the Department of Commerce, and the United States Trade Representative, gaining crucial experience along the way.
"The ITIP Award enabled me to do internships at the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), where I was able to partake in projects related to trade policy and development finance. These internship experiences gave me the opportunity to apply the knowledge and technical skills that I have developed at the Elliott School to real world scenarios and also gave me a clearer sense of the career path I wish to pursue. More importantly, my internship experiences have opened many doors with prospective employers and generally have widened my career opportunities."

"I am proud to say I have been involved with this outstanding scholarship program since its inception, 5 years ago. It started with one idea by one student and, very quickly, many of us embraced the suggestion, helping to turn it into action. This program is critical in helping students, from all backgrounds, thrive in Washington's competitive job environment. Furthermore, it helps to strenthen the bonds and ties amongst all of us, current and former ITIP students. I am thrilled we are now celebrating our 5th anniversary and can only hope we will celebrate many anniversaries in the years ahead."
