Information Session: International Policy Internship- Bureau of Industry and Security
Join Zane Zovak and Maxwell Roberts, Policy Analysts with the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security for a virtual Information Session on the 2025 International Policy Internship. This position is located in the Department of Commerce (DOC), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Export Administration (EA).
The primary goal of BIS is to advance national security, foreign policy, and economic objectives by ensuring an effective export control and treaty compliance system, and promoting continued U.S. strategic technology leadership. BIS also enforces anti-boycott laws and coordinates with U.S. agencies and other countries on export control, nonproliferation and strategic trade issues.
This position is unpaid. Interns must be in the Washington, DC area and willing to come in to DOC headquarters (Herbert C. Hoover Building, HCHB) as mission needs require. Interns will not receive a security clearance in this role.
Position Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or master’s program. Graduation date no earlier than December 2025. Preferred majors include international affairs, international relations, policy, political science. Interns from other backgrounds who demonstrate a sincere interest in and enthusiasm for the work of BIS will be considered.
- Located in the Washington, DC area for the duration of the internship.
- U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or refugee/asylee status holder.
Interns will complete 5-10 hours per week, schedule to be established in coordination with the Policy Advisors from Export Administration. Internship begins January 2025.
