Mr. Hakim Jan is born and raised in Afghanistan. He is a Youth Exchange & Study (YES) alumnus and an Afghan Fulbright scholar. He holds a B.A. in political science with a minor in national security studies from the University of Houston (2015) and a master’s (MA) in Security Policy Studies from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs - ESIA (2019). Fluent in Dari, Pashtu, and English, Mr. Hakim has over seven years of professional experiences within various governmental and non-governmental institutions in Afghanistan. Research interests: transnational security issues (counterterrorism/insurgency, counter-narcotics, and hybrid threats…etc.,) with a focus on Afghanistan (and South and Central Asia). He is a member of the Afghan Fulbright Association (AFA). As a Nadler Fellow for Leadership Studies, Mr. Hakim concentrates on research, student advice (Capstone Projects), and service.
