Shannon Smith has two decades of experience working on foreign policy, across branches of government, agencies, and subject areas. Among other positions, she has served as a Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs; a senior adviser on Africa and global health for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee; and a professor of practice for the Africa Center for Strategic Studies, a Department of Defense institution. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
