Rebecca Russell is the Program Coordinator for the Sigur Center for Asian Studies. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in Chinese Language and International Studies, and then received an M.A. in National Development from National Taiwan University and an M.A. in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University. Prior to joining GWU, she worked as a student services coordinator at the Sociology department and English Language Institute at the University of Michigan. She is also a certified K-5 Elementary and K-12 Chinese Language teacher and taught for several years at international schools in Taiwan and South Korea, and at public schools in New Jersey and New York. Rebecca has spent extensive time in East Asia and has received many scholarships for Chinese language study and academic research, including the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship, Freeman-ASIA Scholarship, US Department of State Critical Language Scholarship, Chinese Government Scholarship, Princeton in Asia Fellowship, and Taiwan Ministry of Education Scholarship.
