My research focuses on the politics and distributional consequences of economic coercion. In my dissertation research, I develop a theory to explain how firms, and banks in particular, respond to financial sanctions, and their responses’ implications for the world economy. As a part of my dissertation research, I create an original bank ownership dataset and track ownership changes of 5,281 foreign banks between 1995 and 2020. My research has been generously supported by the Smith Richardson Foundation, the Institute for Humane Studies, and Georgetown University.
