Matthew D. Taylor is the Protestant Scholar at the Institute for Islamic, Christian, and Jewish Studies in Baltimore, Maryland. He holds degrees from the University of California, Irvine (B.A., English and Religious Studies), Fuller Theological Seminary (M.A., Theology), and Georgetown University (Ph.D., Theological and Religious Studies with an emphasis in Christianity and Islam). In his research, Dr. Taylor compares the ways that Christian and Muslim communities in America adapt to modernity, particularly in their relationships with and interpretations of their respective scriptures.

Publications

His current book project examines the identity and stylistic convergences between Evangelical Christians and Salafi Muslim in America as they seek to empower individual members of their communities through direct access to scripture (the Bible and the Qurʾan/Hadith).
